A phrase from this hymn that we sang today, really struck me.
Here is the verse.

"As now we praise thy name with song,
The blessings of this day
Will linger in our thankful hearts,
And silently we pray
For courage to accept thy will,
To listen and obey.
We love thee, Lord; our hearts are full.
We’ll walk thy chosen way."

Do you pray for the courage to accept God's will? Do I?

I think it is hard sometimes to understand why things happen the way they do.
Life can be full of sad, hard, unexpected turns.
I often try and try and try to understand why these sorts of things happen. What is the point?
Why does it have to be this way?
I wrestle with it in my mind and my heart aches. Tears fall and it is hard.

I need to make a better effort to have a "thankful heart", which I believe will lead me to
pray "For courage to accept thy will".

Because for someone like me, it isn't easy. at. all.

it is definitely not always easy to accept the Lord's will. BUt I can look back on my life at times when I didn't understand why life was a certain way or why things happened the way they did, and I look back and realize that the Lord's way is the best way...things work out...we grow stronger. His understanding is infinite and eternal and ours is so limited. I think of Him as standing on top of a great mountain and His view is forever. We are down at the foot of the mountain and all we see is this huge rock blocking our path. or another image i love is what Neal A. Maxwell once talked about...God is making a tapestry with our lives. We are on the underside of that and only see the mess and tangle of threads of all colors. He is on the top side and sees the beautiful pattern He is creating.
