Today is what matters

We have been listening to a Veggie Tales CD today and the words to this song keep going through my mind.

The Thankfulness Song
"I thank God for this day,
For the sun in the sky,
For my mom and my dad,
For my piece of apple pie,
For our home on the ground,
For His love that's all around,
That's why I say thanks every day!
Because a thankful heart is a happy heart!
I'm glad for what I have, Thats an easy way to start!
For the love that He shares, 'Cause He listens to my prayers,
That's why I say thanks every day"

And it is true. I am thankful. I am thankful to know so many wonderful people. To be surrounded by family and friends who love and support me. I am thankful to know so many people who make this world a better place. People who don't judge. People who love me and everyone around them for who we are. People who make me laugh. People who make me smile. People who make life wonderful. People who enrich this world simply by being here.
People who inspire me to be better each and every day.
I am thankful to know so many people.
I feel blessed for every day that I get to spend with these people.
Truly we are blessed.
I don't want to take one more minute, hour, day or experience for granted. I am going to tell people that I love them, cry with them, share with them, and let go of anger and whatever else is a barrier to loving people.
I want to make the world a better place today. I owe it to the many people that I know and love. It is the least I can do. Spread the joy. Love someone. Let go of a prejudice. Because you never know what tomorrow may bring.
I am going to be better today and everyday.

Please keep Tom Jennings, Bruce Evans, Porter Shelley, and Spencer Anderson and their families in your prayers.
Go ahead and write it down. They all deserve it. And I know there are many others that need prayers. I am sorry if I left someone out. These are just the people that are on my mind at this very minute in time.

I am thankful for many things, too. I'm sick with an icky cold (I made the comment that I didn't get one this year!) I especially appreciate good health when it's not present.
We will keep those who are really ill in our prayers.

great post Mare! I love it, I think gratitude is so vital, and pure love. What's wrong w/ the Jennings, I remember them and loved them when I was in Milledgeville?

Great song and great post! Losing my Mom was such a huge wakeup call for me and sadly, it took a tragedy to help me to realize all that I have!
