Girls Day Out-My turn to Plan!

We started off at the Farmer's Market. Me, Lar, her roomie- Azure, and my mom. It was so much fun. There was a ton of delicious produce, samples, and lots of people, some singing and playing music. We bought some things that we needed, although the peaches and raspberries never made it home because we ate them too fast. We saw beautiful plants, herbs, flowers, and I even ran into a Sister Missionary from Duluth, Ga. I heard her accent over the crowd (Yeah, I can still pick it out) and talked to her for a little while. We ate samosas (yum!) empanadas, bread, goat cheese, gelato, and tasted all kinds of delicious things. It was also fun to look at all the goodies from the local bakeries- I was contemplating how many of the creations I could make at home. I can't wait to go again, hopefully next weekend. I had to take a picture of the beautiful Stargazer Lilies that someone was selling.

This sink is a little out of place, but it was one of the new features that we saw in a bunch of the houses we toured in the Parade of Homes. Here is my arugula, cherries, japanese eggplant, summer squash, Armenian cucumber, mini cucumbers, fresh local honey and a special, secret ingredient that will be revealed in a recipe contest later this month

So, we were driving from one house to the next in the Parade of Homes and I looked over to the side of the road and noticed a gazillion antlers. No one else in the car even noticed, but then I saw tons of bison too, so, me and Azure hopped out to take a closer look and some photos. This guy was kinda mad at me for disturbing his rest.
Now on to some of the favorites things from the Homes we toured. This room was a Make A Wish room, which means that it is decorated to portray a childs wish. This child wanted to go to Sea World. Yes, very cute, but I am not sure if those fish bowls attached to the wall are such a great idea!

Check out this 3 story doll house. I peeked inside and it was pretty amazing.
Here is a room that reminded me of Matt. Backpacking and Rock climbing gear was all over the walls.
Cute little girl room

I noticed one of the books in the walk in closet was Pinkalicious, Ryanne's favorite story, as narrated by Papa Frank. When I saw it, I could hear his voice telling the story!

Mom, Lar and Azure posing in front of the $3 million home
I wasn't sure what was behind these doors
Thanks Lar, for exposing that huge fridge!
The indoor basketball court, that was 1 floor beneath the basement
The castle playland in the same room as the basketball court, complete with a slide (inside the tower) to take you down to that floor

Cute miniature entertainment room for the kids
The 3 million dollar house was nice and everything, but as soon as I saw this naseating rooster in the kitchen, I knew it wasn't the house for me
After touring homes for 4 1/2 hours, we were pretty hungry, so we went to Chik-fila (don't tell my kids that I went without them or I will be in big trouble) and then headed back to Lar's apartment to go our separate ways. You would think after that day of excitement I would've just stayed home and put my feet up, but, Matt and the kids were at the Demolition Derby, so I had to go meet them. I wish I would've taken my camera, but I set my purse down and didn't get any pics of it.
I had a great time and I can't wait until later this month when Lar is in charge and we get to do GDO again, but this time Audrey will be in tow! Yippie!

Wow!! What fun! I love the sink. Those pictures offer some great home decorating ideas...minus the chicken. It is pretty heinous!

So this is a coincidence, but the same day that I added you to our book club blog (Stephanie told me that you wanted to join, and since I'm kind of the pres. I had to add you) I also found your blog via the Ekker family's blog! I got a little hooked and read quite a few of your past entries too and I have to say that I loved your makeover pictures and wanted to know who did your hair and make-up? Truly gorgeous! (hope you don't mine me blog stalking!)

Don't you just wish you lived that way, who are these people that can actually afford these things and what do they do? Cute rooms, sounds like a fun girls day outting.

Sounds like you had a blast. I'm jealous since all the girls in my family are 1100 miles away. *sniff* You understand, of course, having lived even further away than I am right now.

I love going to the Parads of Homes and getting ideas. Those multi-million dollar homes are so completely out of reach, but the ideas there are usually the best. :) Terrible rooster, though.
