Cinco de Mayo

Who knew that Cinco de Mayo could be so fun? I didn't even have to plan it. It was just luck. I had to grab something at the grocery store and had to take all the kids (usually I try to go when they are asleep or something). A few minutes after we entered the store, a Mariachi band started playing. I mean this was the real thing. They were authentic. I took the shopping cart over to where the band was playing and we just watched them. Later we saw them playing and marching around, serenading the shoppers. It was really fun. It made my day and made me smile!
I originally saw this idea in Family Fun. Making an edible Mexican flag. I thought it looked fun, but didn't know if it was a good idea to fix a huge tray just for us. Once again, luck took over. We were invited to a cookout and this was our contribution. It was yummy!
This was the white vegetable on the tray-Jicama. We have tried it before and if you haven't tried it, you should. It is a crunchy and sweet and kids love it!

I just couldn't get over the fact that this happened to me today. It was great!

Looks like fun. I have decided that we need to get together. I will practice taking pictures of your kids and you can cook for me. I am so amazed at how gourmet you are compared to the totally lamo stuff I make. Glad you had a good day.
