Summer?

There was this one day last week that was pretty warm. I think it might have gotten up to 70 degrees. The kids were outside with some friends and they started complaining about how hot is was out there.

I had to laugh, because it was no where near hot. It was warm, but what do you expect after snow and months of freezing? I remember as a kid the first day that it got to be about 70 degrees- that was the day we got on our swimsuits and wanted to run through the sprinkler.

Jonah and Ry put on their swimsuits, but their friends didn't have any at our house, so they just got their clothes wet. Good thing their mom didn't care.

Savannah was banned by the doctor that same day from being on the trampoline or jumping at all. She is walking around, but she was not allowed to get on the trampoline, which made her sad. The kids wanted to play "Dodge Squirt", so I decided Savannah could be in control of the water. Then she wouldn't cry and everyone could have fun.
The other kids were a little bit scared of her with the hose at first.

This is when Ryanne said-"We are human. We are not grass." Then they all started chanting "we are here, we are here" (Thank you Horton Hears a Who). The chanting got louder and louder and I started laughing, because it was pretty funny.

Savannah finally got the hang of it (with a little help from me)

She was satisfied with her job. And then she decided to turn the hose on herself.

That warm day was just a tease, as the weather has cooled down a bit, since then. Jonah was complaining about how hot it was that day and I warned him not to complain, because in about a month, we are going to actually realize the meaning of HOT. Georgia summer-I don't think my kids remember you. :)

Today is what matters

We have been listening to a Veggie Tales CD today and the words to this song keep going through my mind.

The Thankfulness Song
"I thank God for this day,
For the sun in the sky,
For my mom and my dad,
For my piece of apple pie,
For our home on the ground,
For His love that's all around,
That's why I say thanks every day!
Because a thankful heart is a happy heart!
I'm glad for what I have, Thats an easy way to start!
For the love that He shares, 'Cause He listens to my prayers,
That's why I say thanks every day"

And it is true. I am thankful. I am thankful to know so many wonderful people. To be surrounded by family and friends who love and support me. I am thankful to know so many people who make this world a better place. People who don't judge. People who love me and everyone around them for who we are. People who make me laugh. People who make me smile. People who make life wonderful. People who enrich this world simply by being here.
People who inspire me to be better each and every day.
I am thankful to know so many people.
I feel blessed for every day that I get to spend with these people.
Truly we are blessed.
I don't want to take one more minute, hour, day or experience for granted. I am going to tell people that I love them, cry with them, share with them, and let go of anger and whatever else is a barrier to loving people.
I want to make the world a better place today. I owe it to the many people that I know and love. It is the least I can do. Spread the joy. Love someone. Let go of a prejudice. Because you never know what tomorrow may bring.
I am going to be better today and everyday.

Please keep Tom Jennings, Bruce Evans, Porter Shelley, and Spencer Anderson and their families in your prayers.
Go ahead and write it down. They all deserve it. And I know there are many others that need prayers. I am sorry if I left someone out. These are just the people that are on my mind at this very minute in time.

Andrews B-day

Andrew had a birthday about a month ago. I am just posting some of the pictures now because I thought it was better late than never.
We had fun helping decorate with crepe paper and balloons.

Andrew requested some pretty strange things when I asked him what kind of cake he wanted but I actually found a Rice Pudding Cake and it turned out to be the perfect thing for him.
Yeah for birthdays!

Matt's weekend visit

I went to pick Matt up from the airport on Friday night. I got a cheap hotel (not a gross and dirty hotel though, it was just a good deal) that was really close to the airport because his plane was supposed to get in at 11:30 pm and also because Savannah has been sleeping with me almost the entire time that Matt has been gone. But especially now that her leg is hurt. She wakes up in the middle of the night and cries out for me and I feel bad for her and I am alone, so I let her get in bed with me. Bad habit. I know.
We spent the night at our hotel and then came back home. The kids were so excited! Jonah couldn't wait to play basketball with Matt. He has been praticing so much. He is outside everyday shooting hoops and was really looking forward to playing his dad.
Ryanne was being a cheerleader.
Savannah was just happy to be outside.
I got some pretty good action shots of Matt and Jonah shooting hoops. Practice really does pay off. Jonah has really made improvement on his b-ball skills.

He likes to foul though.
Here he is shooting a "3-pointer"

Ry was busy catching spectator bugs
We had some beautiful blossoms in the yard too. Peaches, apricots and plums.

Jonah got a much needed haircut and Matt put Savannah back in her splint.

We had a great weekend. It was beautiful and sunny. We love being together as a family.

Easter Weekend

On Friday afternoon, Gabrielle and her kids came over to dye eggs and make treats. We had a good time. We dyed lots of eggs. I watched Gabrielle make amazing lemon bars and the kids played outside after we were done with some of our activities. We were just inside talking and all of the sudden, I heard Savannah screaming. I looked outside and she was on the trampoline with Jonah and another child. I thought she was just scared, but after I went outside and removed her from the trampoline, I realized she was hurt. She was holding her leg and wouldn't stop crying. She fell asleep on the couch and later we realized that she couldn't put any weight on her left leg.
I let her sleep with me that night and thought maybe she would be better in the morning.
Not so much. Luckily, Matt has connections and I was able to get someone to check her out Saturday morning who determined that she probably had a hairline fracture and was ok, so we waited until this morning to get an x-ray. Fracture confirmed. We are getting the splint tomorrow. I really was wishing Matt was here this weekend. He knows all the stuff about injuries and broken bones and I really had no idea what to think. We attended a egg hunt and other stuff this weekend, but Savannah had to be held almost the whole weekend, so there wasn't any picture taking- Sorry, Matt and Becky!
By sunday afternoon, she had figured out that she could scoot around and she has adapted quite well, considering the circumstances. She avoids putting any weight on her hurt leg and keeps reminding me by saying "Don't let me walk!" Fun stuff.
After 3 night of her sleeping in my bed, I finally decided she could handle her room. We will see how it goes!

We did get a couple of pictures after church on Sunday and yes, I avoided being in the pictures, but hey- someone had to do the picture taking!

We have absolutely loved having Whitney live with us the past three months. She such a happy person who really adds to our family!
I attempted taking some pictures of the kids, but couldn't get anything serious, so I decided silly was good enough. Savannah hasn't been getting enough rest, which is obvious to us because she falls asleep anywhere she holds still for more than 10 minutes. I guess Easter dinner was too boring.....
I loved how beautiful it was on Easter morning. It really made me feel the joy and love of my Savior.
A woman asked Jonah as we were leaving church, " Did the Easter Bunny come and visit you?"
Jonah replied, " Yes, but that isn't really what Easter is about. It is about Jesus."
That made me smile.
So simple and so true.

Football Outside

We are just making the best of whatever weather we get and spending time playing outside. Fun times. If only Matt were here to even up the teams! Love you Matt and can't wait to see you next weekend!
Maybe we can play football......
